Vancouver Recruiters

Dear HR managers and business owners,

Like U2 says, sometimes you can't make it on your own. Not even Bono can save the world without outside help.

I have a feeling that they're not talking about recruiting, but the principle holds true regardless, now more than ever. In the current war for talent, finding and attracting top performers can sometimes be a very arduous and time-consuming process, one that can divert crucial energy, resources and working hours away from another important battle: the day-to-day operation of your business.

So if you're thinking of bringing new people aboard in the coming months, now is the time to give some serious thought to the benefits of enlisting an experienced recruitment firm, before you get stuck in a moment you can't get out of. And if you've been searching for new people for a while and you still haven't found what you're looking for, don't worry: it's not too late.

Meanwhile, for this issue of People Pulse, we've come up with two articles we hope you'll find interesting: one on retention in key positions, and another exploring the unusual concept of the seven-day weekend.

Recruiting

Could a Seven-Day Weekend Help You Attract Talent?

Ricardo Semler has an unorthodox approach to managing: Let the inmates run the asylum. Allow your employees to work whenever they want, wherever they want, and they'll reward you with increased productivity, greater profitability, and longer-term loyalty, argues the Brazilian businessman in his book The Seven-Day Weekend.

Retaining

Focusing Retention Efforts on Key Positions

We're all aware of the demographic shifts occurring in the workforce, but here's one more alarming trend to consider. Many Baby Boomers reaching the age 55 are electing early retirement, potentially escalating what is already a major war for talent. Yet most employers have not yet developed an ongoing strategy for managing the impact of this change on their organization, according to a new Mercer survey.

"Thank you for the excellent job you did in helping us set up our Human Resources department and hire our first Human Resources Manager. It was a pleasure to work with a knowledgeable consulting firm that took the time to understand our needs while respecting our timelines."
