Vancouver Recruiters

Dear HR Managers and Business Owners,

I've come to the conclusion that all organizations are essentially in the same business - the business of creating value for others. But what exactly is "creating value?" Experience demonstrates that value in any situation results from three types of activities - leadership, relationship, and creativity.

Leadership is simply providing direction to others, helping them to eliminate dangers, focus on their best opportunities, and showing them the path to progress. Relationship is giving others confidence that they can count on you to help reinforce their strengths. Creativity is providing capabilities that others need, perhaps in the form of specific tools, integrative structures that provide them with the "big picture", or systems that help them deal with change.

Whether the recipient is an entry level staff member or the CEO of a major corporation, these components of value remain the same. And the rewards can be equally satisfying.

This November, take a moment to think about how you well you bring these into your organization, and the value you want to bring to the organization in 2006.

Cheers,

Do you know whom you're hiring?

This fall, the Advertising Research Foundation delivered some very bad news to companies: they are wasting one-out-of-every-five dollars they spend on advertising. That's right; a study by the Foundation found that the cost of employment ads that fail to communicate their message effectively now equals $50 billion per year. What's behind such lousy performance?

Workplace Stress on the Rise

A recent report estimates that nearly 10% of the UK's gross national product (GNP) is lost each year due to work-related stress1 and figures show that almost 13 million working days were lost to stress, depression and anxiety in 2003/04 . Counseling experience shows that stress and trauma can trigger underlying mental health issues that may impact upon an employees' well-being and performance at work. What are employers doing to address this brain and profit drain?
