Dear HR Managers and Business Owners, Working.com recently conducted a poll to find out how important it is to people that they believe in the products or services that their company sells or does. The results were quite insightful for employers. 78% indicated it matters a lot, and that they couldn't work for a company if they didn't believe in what the company does or sells. 15% said it mattered somewhat-that it would help, and 6% said it didn't matter at all. In total, 93.6% say they need to work for a company they believe in. Historically, many employers in Canada focus on a laundry list of experience and education that someone must bring to the position in order to qualify, and do not spent a lot of time sharing the story of their company. Practices are changing. Some BC companies are now building their web sites and creating videos to share their stories, and they're looking to their corporate marketing departments as well as their HR departments to assist with the recruiting process. As the war for top talent continues to heat up in BC the role of corporate storytelling will become another key to success. Cheers,
