Vancouver Recruiters

Dear HR Managers and Business Owners,

Impressions work both ways - and companies can hurt their prospects of attracting employees if they don't impress candidates during a job interview.

According to a recent survey by jobtips.com, 90% of twentysomethings polled said their overall image of an organization changed as a result of a recent job interview experience. Of those who had a good experience, 54% said their impression of the company, its products and services improved.

One of the articles in this month's issue relates to one of reasons managers do not do well in hiring conversations - they are just lacking sleep. The seriousness of this problem is bigger than many of us realize and is starting to impact the bottom line.

On behalf of everyone at People First Solutions, I hope you enjoy this month's issue.

Cheers,

Disabled workers reap benefits from labour shortage

Western Canada's tight labour market is proving to be the bane of some small businesses and a blessing to others. Recently, a Calgary pizza restaurant made headlines for temporarily shutting down because it couldn't find enough employees. It's no secret a labour shortage has hit, but for some underrepresented groups in the job market this may be the proverbial silver lining in a dark cloud.

Top executives must take sleeplessness seriously

Sleep is a stranger to many managers. But research by leading scientists shows just how dangerous that problem is. While corporations have all kinds of policies designed to prevent employee endangerment- rules against workplace smoking, drinking, drugs, sexual harassment, and so on-they sometimes push employees to the brink of self destruction.
