Dear HR Managers and Business Owners, Are job markets shifting in BC as the global economy wobbles? According to a recent survey by CareerBuilder.com, the ranks of passive jobseekers continue to grow, but active jobseekers are shrinking. Many employees reported considering taking classes to improve their job prospects, while 38 percent said they expected to hold onto their current job for at least another year. Only 23 percent of the companies surveyed intend to add full time workers in the next three months. These findings are based on a survey of more than 3,000 hiring managers and HR professionals and over 6,100 workers in private sector companies. Certain sectors such as information technology and healthcare are still showing solid job growth while others struggle with reorganization, cost containment and other measures to stay afloat. How will this impact your company in the coming quarter? The need to plan and make smart hiring decisions is paramount. Cheers,
