The District of Mission is looking for a progressive and innovative individual to lead its Engineering & Public Works department. As the Director of Engineering & Public Works, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, operations, design, planning and construction activities associated with municipal infrastructure and related programs. Your responsibilities in support of our community include traffic, street lighting, roads, drainage, sanitary sewer, water works, fleet management, land development infrastructure, soil removal, dyking and waste management (including the landfill) services.
We are looking for an individual who has a keen critical thinking ability, analytical and problem solving skills, and is focused on high quality outputs and results. You understand local government objectives and issues, are proactive and forward thinking, and have excellent interpersonal skills. A distinguished customer service record and the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including Council, are essential for this position, as is having a high degree of integrity due to exposure to highly confidential and/or politically sensitive information.
As the ideal candidate, you will have a post-secondary degree from an accredited university with a major in Engineering or a related field, together with a minimum of seven years’ progressively responsible supervisory experience in a civil or municipal engineering environment.
