The Position:

Our client is currently seeking a technically strong production leader for their manufacturing team. The successful candidate will assume responsibility for developing and implementing work methods, applying departmental procedures, and providing leadership to assigned personnel.

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct and coordinate the daily operation of production departments and personnel.
  • Help establish strategic direction while maintaining focus on daily requirements for manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to increase production capacity and decrease costs
  • Develop optimal manufacturing techniques and map process flows to eliminate waste and  meet corporate strategic goals
  • Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and outside vendors related to implementation of capital projects.
  • Create and maintain a flexible workforce where mutual respect and cooperation is maintained.
  • Create and establish a culture of continuous improvement where World Class Manufacturing tools are utilized to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the process.
  • Responsible for leading the people development with a clear focus on elimination of human error losses and developing the plant employees.
  • Evaluate daily production reports regarding man-hours, machine hours, output, quality and material usage as compared to standards, and review non-compliance areas with reports to determine causes of variances from standard and develop solutions to resolve.
  • Ability to validate production data integrity and provide vision for future reports, data and IT systems.
  • Significant problem solving situations involve changes in products, processes, equipment, shipping schedules and personnel in a manner which will maintain or improve production efficiency, product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Assure good housekeeping practices, plant rules and safety regulations, coach employees, apply the plant operating principles.
  • Establish and maintain positive/team relations with employees, other department, vendors and customers.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, science, industrial management or similar discipline.  Minimum of 6 years related experience in a manufacturing setting or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar role.

  • Proven track record in managing a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Experience with CNC machining or metals fabrication.
  • High energy level required demonstrating ability to manage multiple projects, setting priorities, identifying and addressing problems, meeting deadlines, and staying within budget.
  • Exposure to modern manufacturing techniques and principles (LEAN manufacturing, 5S, EIM, Six Sigma, DOS, Kanban)
  • Experience with ERP systems applied to a complex manufacturing and materials environment, firm grasp of planning and purchasing fundamentals
  • Experience establishing KPIs to assess, analyze and track manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of time management, communication skills, influencing, leading and adaptability.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of equipment, maintenance programs and implementation of new automated processes.
