IT Product and Merchandising Manager

Monk Office is searching for an IT Product and Merchandising Manager. This manager will report to the Director of Technology Sales and will control and manage IT inventory in all locations; to maximize IT sales, IT profitability of each location, inventory turns, store merchandising, technology product and sales training.
Major Responsibilities:
Purchasing and Pricing:
- Continually identify and determine optimum sources of supply
- Make purchase decisions and manage process for order fulfilment
- Be responsible for procuring designated quality and quantity
- Minimize cost of goods and maximize overall gross profit of IT
- Seek opportunity/spot buys
Product:
- Train staff on how to sell higher end products at the store and commercial level to increase GP
- Put more focus on products that are unique to Monk
- Set a store/commercial stock level for certain consumable products like cables, power pro units etc.
Selling Service:
- Work directly with all staff on how to promote and sell value added service, warranties including both depot and on-site offerings
- Lead training for all staff on how to sell service contracts, cpc and mps
Manage IT Suppliers:
- Manage vendor relationships with I?T suppliers to negotiate back end rebates, spiffs and product give-aways
- Ensure that Monk Office purchasing divisions are registered properly with each vendor and managing any reporting required
- Make only relevant vendor product webinars available to all Monk staff
- Plan specific vendor training on Vancouver Island
- Take advantage of daily specials
Training:
- Will work directly with retail managers/IT specialists on how to recognize potential opportunity and sell IT – specific training on site
- Hold IT training meetings with or without vendors on product, general trends and selling strategy
- Will work with Monk Office developing strategies to integrated technology with design and furniture
- Will train all staff on how to sell highly profitable service
Grow Monk’s IT Product and Service Offerings:
- Leverage existing Monk relationships
- Find new business trend or patterns
- Help develop network services
- Manage marketing/promotional funds, rebates and payment terms
- Communicate favourable purchasing opportunities to manage (ie: spiffs, rebates, incentives)
- Communicate effectively to all departments
- Maintain awareness of market trends and technology
- Maintain awareness of company’s marketing strategies and competitive activity
Requirements:
- Post secondary education preferably in purchasing, computer science or business related studies
- Knowledge of inventory control and management
- Excellent written and oral communication ability
- Strong Excel, Work and Access database skills
- Strong knowledge of IT products and related terminology
- Strong knowledge of market share growth strategies, marketing, merchandising and promotions
- Ability to organize and coordinate efforts to meet program objectives
- Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task effectively
- Analytical and effective problem solving skills
- Strong customer service attitude and track record
- Desire to work in a fast paced and continuously evolving business environment
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Positive, proactive, enthusiastic and solutions oriented
