Our client strongly believes that attracting and retaining the highest quality of people is the best insurance for success.  CRS is currently searching for an Operations Manager, with strong technical and structural steel fabrication background and experience.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, as the Operations Manager, you will coordinate the activities of the company’s manufacturing operations as well as job costing, project management, contract reviews, scheduling, shipping and receiving, capital budgeting, and any other work that relates to the operations group.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations
  • Direct and supervise the activities of project management, engineering, manufacturing and material control
  • Proactively work with all department heads under your leadership in order to improve productivity, on time delivery and cost reduction
  • Work with the Management Team to develop methods to increase profitability of the company
  • Ensure Company OH&S procedures are followed, and a safe work environment is provided
  • Proactively work with Project Management team to ensure all aspects of the project are deployed on a timely and accurate basis and within budget
  • Manage QA/QC, and the requirements of each project as defined by our clients
  • Develop methods to ensure manufacturing process and  costs are maintained within budget and project scope
  • Manage budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures
  • Develop and maintain a strong record keeping systems and procedures
  • The ability to maximize efficiencies in project execution through effective use of time and resources
  • Continually looks for opportunities to improve the bottom line and increase the profit margin
  • Monitor availability and flow of personnel as well as hiring, motivating and assigning teams to projects
  • Maintain continual communications with Managing Director on the progress of all projects and daily operational functions
  • The majority of our contracts are coordinated with leading Engineering firms.  The Operations Manger will be responsible for working/communicating/dealing with compliance issues and requirements with our engineering clients

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years upper managerial experience in heavy steel fabrication environment or overhead crane manufacturing
  • Degree in Structural Engineering P. Eng or CET or proven equivalent work experience
  • Budget, finance, and quality cost control experience
  • Strong understanding of ISO procedures
  • Strong decision making, multi-tasking and delegation abilities
  • Must have outstanding communication skills
  • Excellent people management and team building skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Above average computer skills
