With over 30 years of experience, T-Rail provides complete rail supply and service solutions to Canadian and International Railway Organizations. With operations in Vancouver (Surrey), Winnipeg and Toronto, T-Rail offers planning, engineering, specifications, estimating, logistics, supply, and installation of rail transportation links. T-Rail continue to grow despite the current challenging global health and economic situation. T-Rail is currently searching for a Director of Sustainable Finance.

Mission of the Role:

The successful candidate will be a key member of the senior management team and be responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s finance and operations across Canada. The Director of Sustainable Finance will provide strategic and operational advice to the Owner/CEO.

Job Responsibilities:

  • A proven leader who inspires the team, takes ownership and actively manages the financial drivers within the company
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. Will develop budgets, cash flow forecasting, oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, daily cash monitoring, reconciliations, and inventory management

  • Effectively monitors and oversees the company’s operations and with open and transparent communication is a trusted advisor to the Owner/CEO 
  • Works with leadership team to develop annual and long-term forecasts 
  • Establishes performance metrics, identifies areas for improvement, and develops recommendations that supports the company’s strategic plan
  • Oversees the implementation and integration of the new ERP system, guides and monitors strategic initiatives, accesses company financials, makes recommendations

  • Recruits, leads, coaches, and evaluates the team’s performance in accordance with the company’s human resource policies and practices

Job Requirements:

  • Experience managing diverse teams and a proven track record for initiating and implementing process improvements, a natural problem solver
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, a CPA designation and 5+ years of accounting/finance experience, with strong business acumen and decision-making experience at senior level
  • Proven leadership skills to oversee and coach the team, leadership responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow forecasting, daily cash monitoring, reconciliations, and inventory management
  • Always professional with a demonstrated high level of integrity and ethics, leads by example and knows how to build a loyal performance driven team within a culture of accountability
  • A proactive and enterprising individual with strong emotional intelligence and exceptional communication skills and a willingness to voice opinions and substantiate opinions with fact
  • Communicates in a clear, concise, organized manner and listens and works collaboratively with others to obtain information, a detective at heart who strives to find answers
  • Experience working in entrepreneurial business environment, with previous accounting and operations experience in manufacturing and distribution 
  • A chameleon who understands both corporate and entrepreneurial cultures with the willingness to take a hands-on approach to daily activities
  • Experience building and adapting defined systems, processes and procedures within a company, excellent knowledge and proficiency with accounting systems, preferably with previous experience with NetSuite
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel including the use of formulas, linking, and integrating spreadsheets and able to organize and summarize data for senior level readers with proven ability to identify pertinent information
