Packetlabs is a leading ethical hacking firm in Canada. Packetlabs offers a number of services, including infrastructure penetration testing, web and mobile application testing, social engineering, red team exercises, source-code reviews, and exploit development. Packetlabs’ clients occupy a number of industries, including government, technology, law enforcement, retail, healthcare and financial, to name a few. Packetlabs is searching for a Staff Accountant who enjoys working in a fast-paced/dynamic environment and enjoys challenging themselves.

Mission of the Staff Accountant:

The Staff Accountant will perform full-cycle accounting, prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports. The successful individual will have experience reviewing, filing employment taxes (PD7A) monthly as well as managing and organizing recurring software and training expenses.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Spend time with team to gain first-hand knowledge about the values, culture and products of Packetlabs
  • Responsible for the daily accounting  function of Packetlabs including the overseeing of accounts receivable, accounts payable
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, follow up on overdue accounts receivable, demonstrate strong business acumen
  • Gain insight into the entire client experience starting from the first point of contact
  • Process bi-weekly payroll and monthly commission cheques, prepare all related government filings
  • Maintain accurate record keeping of all human resource functions including benefits, vacation and compensation, is trusted to keep employee information confidential
  • Manage onboard of new staff members and entry into the corporate benefit plan + GRSP.
  • Maximizes efficiency and streamlines processes where necessary, ensuring there are adequate checks and balances at every stage
  • Experience reviewing/filing corporate taxes, experience preparing and filing HST reports with CRA is an asset
  • Monitors key performance metrics and reports on relevant changes in financial metrics

Role Requirements:

  • 2+ years as an accountant from a Professional Services firm or experience working in an entrepreneurial business environment with leadership responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow forecasting, daily cash monitoring and reconciliations
  • A naturally curious leader with a track record for implementing process improvements, a natural problem solver
