Kobelt has an extensive history of innovation and product development and works with a wide variety of regulatory and classification requirements around the world for system certifications and approvals. Kobelt Manufacturing is currently searching for a Quality Assurance Manager.
The Role:
The Quality Assurance Manager will oversee and continually improve the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS). This individual will not only understand how people and processes relate to business productivity and profitability but how customers, suppliers, stakeholders and interested parties’ expectations are repeatedly, consistently and efficiently delivered under a healthy QMS. The Quality Assurance Manager will coordinate and manage Kobelt’s nonconformance reporting system, corrective and preventive action systems, communicate requirements to department managers, monitor progress and report analytical findings to Senior Management.
The Responsibilities:
- Spend time with team to gain first-hand knowledge about the values, culture and broad product range at Kobelt
- Manage and oversee the ongoing development and evaluation of the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS)
- Provide training on matters pertaining to the Quality Management System, contribute to a culture of accountability with a focus on continuous improvement
- Coordinate and manage Kobelt’s corrective and preventive action systems, keep team members moving forward
- Help team to understand the big picture as it relates to the Quality Management System
- Lead by example, engage and inspire the team, hold people accountable
- Manage and monitor non-conformances, report follow-up procedures, report monthly and year-to-date comparisons, statistics and key performance indicators
- Ensure Kobelt is in compliance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations and laws
- Assist Engineering with the coordination of Kobelt plan approvals as required from time to time with regulatory approval agencies such as but not limited to ABS, Lloyds, DNV, BV, Rina
- Accurately assesses quality requirements for new projects and products
The Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance in a design and manufacturing industry, previous experience with a Materials Resource Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is required
- Engineering sciences degree or diploma in a related discipline (e.g. mechanical, electrical), post-secondary diploma or certificate in a recognized quality assurance training program
- A curious, action-oriented solution finder who inspires team to fix problems with the goal of continuous improvement
- A track record of identifying and troubleshooting problems, applying root-cause-analysis with the skills to correct and prevent issues
- A hands-on leader, who has spent a large amount of time on the shop floor involved with inventory and assembly areas
- Proven track record to effectively train employees individually or in group settings, a team player who is able to adapt to different personality types, demonstrates exceptional emotional intelligence
- Knowledgeable in establishing systems to maintain and verify ongoing compliance with international regulations related to engineered products
- Proficient with reading, analyzing, interpreting drafting and engineering related design documents, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Experience using “Quality Tools” such as benchmarking, gap analysis, Pareto analysis, fish- bone diagrams, and process mapping for fact base decisions making
- Proven fluency in English both written and verbal, proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, a consummate communicator who understands the impact of communication
- Entrepreneurial mindset, demonstrates energy and a sense of urgency in executing day-to-day responsibilities
- Must have a valid BC Drivers License, infrequent lifting up to 50 pounds may be required
