The Role & Responsibilities:

To better serve their diverse and growing portfolio of companies, Braidy is searching for a VP, Finance & Administration to join the leadership team. Reporting to the President, the VP Finance & Administration will work directly with the Braidy executive team and provide financial & administrative leadership, oversight, and guidance to Braidy portfolio Controllers and Managers. The overall objective of this position is to optimize Braidy’s sustainable earnings through the hands-on institution of robust financial and administrative processes. This individual will help Braidy grow by strengthening and optimizing each company.

In summary, this person is expected to:

  • Work closely with the Braidy team to understand, embrace, and role-model the Braidy culture and values
  • Learn and understand the workings of each company in the Braidy portfolio
  • Take a hands-on role in the institution and evolution of robust financial and administrative processes at Braidy portfolio companies,
  • Provide financial & administrative leadership, oversight and guidance to Braidy portfolio Controllers and Managers, developing, equipping, and coaching them as required
  • Take a hands-on approach to integrating financial and administrative processes for new Braidy acquisitions
  • Provide insightful, results-oriented, strategic & operational guidance to Braidy Executive peers and the President
  • Lead the development and oversight of Braidy’s annual budgeting process
  • Actively manage towards the achievement of Braidy’s annual budgetary goals
  • Oversee the ongoing analysis of performance versus budgetary goals, make recommendations, and initiate action as required

CAPABILITIES

  • Strong IT-system and other relevant technical skills (working knowledge of SAP is an asset)
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with MS Excel (familiarity with Smart Sheets is also an asset)
  • Able to develop, formalize, and institute financial and administrative processes, policies, and practices
  • Able to organize, summarize, analyze, and insightfully interpret data
  • Able to think strategically
  • Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various personality-types
  • Strong organizational and self-management skills

EXPERIENCE

  • Starting in public practice, has 7+ years progressive hands-on work experience in industry and operations (experience in private equity is an asset)
  • Proven track record of demonstrating the traits and capabilities outlined above to deliver measurable results

CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Completion of Certified Professional Accountant (CPA-CA) designation
